Make room for a pause

Gaming should fit around the rest of your life. If it starts to interfere with your sleep, work, relationships or finances, stop the session and take time away from the app.

You can begin by closing the app, turning off its notifications and stepping away from your phone. Ask someone you trust for support if taking a break feels difficult.

Set limits before you start

  • Decide how much time you want to spend before opening a game.
  • If money is involved, use only an amount you can afford to lose and keep essential spending separate.
  • Do not borrow to play or continue in an attempt to recover a loss.
  • Avoid playing when upset, tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

If the app provides time limits, spending limits, account restrictions or self-exclusion, review those options before another session. Availability depends on the service. Contact its support if you cannot find the controls you need.

Find support outside the app

If play feels hard to control, talk to a trusted person or a qualified health professional. Gambling Therapy provides international information and support resources related to gambling harm.

Taking a break does not require a new download, a payment or an account upgrade. Use the help that is appropriate for your situation.

Adults and eligibility

This site is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Keep devices and payment methods away from children’s access. Age eligibility does not establish legal availability; check the rules for your location and the terms of the service.
